Growing up in the South, Dr. Kevin saw the invisible barriers that racism created in rural Eastern North Carolina. His mother faced total kidney failure after being mistakenly and carelessly diagnosed with a respiratory infection. She nearly died three times but no one listened to her concerns. She was seen as a problem versus as a patient.
Though he served as a broadcaster and public address announcer for nearly a decade, Dr. Kevin had a voice with no message. He began the journey of learning, researching, and perfecting how to have tough conversations about race, racism, and equity.
This journey taught him how to conversationally address people with different perspectives of racism. Whether one is unaware, unbothered, or simply exhausted by racism, Dr. Kevin uses life lessons and evidence-based strategies to push higher organizational performance through equity and inclusion.
